Introduction

Yoga Wall Ropes, or Yoga “Kurunta” are vital components of Iyengar Yoga. Wall Rope practice can introduce new dimensions to your yoga practice. In this specialised workshop, yoga practitioners can enhance support and accessibility in a variety of poses, making them ideal for therapeutic purposes, general asana practice and advancement of asana practice. You’ll learn effective techniques to deepen your practice, increase flexibility, build strength and improve overall well-being. This course guides you through a range of poses, from beginner to advanced, all utilising ropes for enhanced stability and alignment. Suitable for both new and experienced practitioners, it merges traditional yoga principles with innovative techniques, adding a dynamic and enriching element to your yoga practice.

  1. Wall Rope helps to level up your practice, including inversions, backbends, forward bends, and alignment, etc.
  2. It enhances flexibility, supports spine alignment, and strengthens muscles.

  4. Ropes can help you preserve energy whilst practising inversions. For those recovering from injuries or dealing with chronic conditions, rope yoga can be particularly therapeutic.

Schedule :

31 August – Day 1

Session 1: 11:30am-1:30pm

Introduction, asana practice such as forward bends like paschimotanasana, upavishtha konasana, etc. Twists like twisted half-moon pose, parvrtta parsvakonasana, parvrtta trikonasana, etc.

Session 2 2:30pm-5:30pm:

Balancing asanas like ek pada koundiyanasana, titibha asana, inversion practices like shirsasana, pincha mayurasana, handstands along with Q&A session.

Anatomy & physiology of asana practice, practice preparation of side bends like trikonasana, parsvatrikonasana, vishwamitrasana, etc.

Session 2: 2:30pm-5:30pm:  

Explanation, preparation & practice of back-bending asanas like urdhva dhanur asana, poorna dhanur asana, vrishchik asana (scorpion pose), poorna ushtrasana (full camel pose), etc.
